Making your vision of your home come to life, inside & out.
Hi-Fi House + Garden is a literal mom-and-pop team designing landscapes and gardens, building organization solutions, and maintaining lawn tasks you don't have time for.
We meet you where you're at — no judgment, no overwhelm — and we're honest about cost and effort before you have to ask.
Two people, one standard: get the small things right.
The name comes from "high fidelity" — the audiophile's obsession with nuance and accuracy — and from our own initials, Hasty + Fischer. Both of us spent years in music and film, where fidelity means the details are what make the whole thing sing. We bring that to your home.
A love of plant (and sound) environments, Katie genuinely delights in unglamorous bits: weeding, organizational inventories, soil health, taxonomy of what grows (and goes) where. A Kansas native, she finds charm in every season. Loves growing vegetables and keeping chickens.
A former set dresser and props master for film/TV, Russ thinks spatially — in composition and scene. He loves measuring and pressure-testing, small structures, hardscapes, and repairs. Think of the fiddliest multivariable A/V systems, and the happier he is. It's no wonder he loves bees.
From native gardens to the honey-do list.
A range of home and garden work under one roof — designed, built, and maintained by the same two people who quoted it.
Garden, landscape, and storage design
Drought-resistant gardens built especially with Kansas & Missouri natives in mind. Store room and garages to fit your life and budget.
Landscape transformation
Full-property installation — beds, borders, patios, and the outdoor space you've been picturing for years.
Ongoing maintenance
A consistent retainer so your lawn and garden stays cared for season to season — same hands every visit, no surprises.
Plant & garden rescue
Struggling houseplants and neglected beds brought back to life — plus the know-how to keep them that way if you want it.
Home projects & A/V
Small structures, repairs, TV mounting, and stereo & A/V setup — the handy, spatial, technical work Russ lives for.
Resets & cleanouts
We rue invasive plants as much as you do. We'll search and destroy amur honeysuckle, poison ivy... we'll even ID plants toxic to your pets.
You get the plan, not just the plants.
Every design comes with a real planting map — zones, species counts, light conditions, and what goes where. It's yours to keep, whether you want us to install it or want to learn the ground yourself.
No mystery, no lock-in. Just an honest picture of your space and exactly what we're proposing to do with it — so you always know what you're paying for and why.
Ask for a design
A sample zoned planting plan — the kind of guide every client receives.
What you get that you won't get elsewhere.
Radical transparency
Upfront about material costs, what "labor" actually involves, and any risk to kids, pets, or wildlife — before you ask.
Climate-smart planting
Design with regionally native plants and Kansas extremes in mind — lower water, lower maintenance, longer life.
Vintage & upcycled materials
We source from auctions, thrift, and marketplaces — and we can shop across your own heirlooms for you. One-of-a-kind, and easier on the budget.
Teach-if-you-want-to
Every job comes with the option to learn to maintain or build it yourself — not just have it done for you.
Small team, real continuity
The same two people pick up where the other left off. No rotating crews, no re-explaining your project.
Final and finished
Intentional, calm, unfussy work that gets done — not a project that lingers half-complete for a season.
